comfort seeking

I think I'm quickly becoming a fan of 1+ bank holidays per month (more please!), because clearly two in a month is not enough for me. My second May bank holiday (weekend just gone) kicked off in style at Champagne & Fromage on Friday night with girl friends. It was a definite I-feel-naughty-doing-this-but-will-do-it-anyway situation, which is actually alright in my opinion if you don't do it too often. To summarise our evening, the beverage was bubbly, the baked camembert with figs and walnut was ummm heaven and the post-dinner macaroons were delightful. Overall, 7.5/10. The rest of the long weekend was then spent having more good food, a housewarming, eating lots of naughty-for-you-but-delicious food at Meat Mission and then Byron, buying extravagant flowers at bargain prices at Colombia Road flower market, more eating and bubbles in the garden and just general enjoyment of the temporary sun trap. All in all, I love bank holidays and wish we could have them all the time, ha. Seriously. I also like the fact that I did all of this in the comfiest, loungy-est, and occasionally ridiculous clothes. No effort this bank holiday, just good old comfort outfits. More outfits will appear... watch this space. Also, SO HAPPY I can still quiff the short hair. Winning. Hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday weekend as much as I did mine :) would love to know what you got up to!

inspired by miss bosworth

Just after Coachella, I selected my favourite three celebrity styles / outfits (here) with a certain Miss Bosworth coming up trumps as number one. She looked cute, and guess what... she had been styled by Topshop the whole time! Released this week, The Road To Coachella by Topshop range was made in collaboration with Miss Bosworth and brings that effortless festival look inspired by Kate's personal style straight to the high street. The short promo film is also beautifully shot so if you have a minute I would definitely watch. Given the look has clearly already struck a chord with me, I thought I would pull out my top five pieces from the range. Which are your favourites?

4 | Orange Cut-out Leather Dress, (sold out already!)
5 | Crochet Crop, £22

blue suede shoes

Look at my shoes: they are blue! And suede. And heels. I feel so grown up. I found this pair in +H&M Covent Garden on a recent little wander, was so surprised by how much they cost that I decided to impulse buy. They are comfy, don't feel too high and I'm looking forward to wearing them for work. Before they became serious work shoes though, I thought I would take them on a first little outing to visit the lovely Diane and here are the snaps. Am looking super blue (double-denim ahoy) but we had a great time because the sun came out for us and made for super happy sunday chilling times. What's also new? My hair. I had most of it cut off but I love it. Had a great Moroccan Oil treatment at The Runway salon in Westminster over the weekend thanks to the lovely Tara - would recommend. Hope you all have a great week ahead :D

blue faux-suede court shoes | £14.99 (H&M) | also comes in grey, black, neon pink & green

lulu, emilia and me at tea

COLLABORATION: Lulu Guinness x Uniqlo

It's Lulu again! Last time I posted about Lulu, I was obsessing over my colleague's super cute purse. Low and behold, one of my favourite high street stores Uniqlo have done it again. They have collaborated with Lulu Guinness to bring us some cute cute cute (and affordable!) tops. This is the second time the designer has worked with Uniqlo and I have to say that I was very excited to get my paws on one of these beauties. I opted for the cat and mouse print white top with Peter Pan collar (it also comes in black) - mainly because it is covered in cats, it's super feminine and it was a bargain £12.90!

Here, I've paired my lulu tee with your iconic lulu colours (black, white and red) and tried to keep my outfit fun, practical (there go those trainers again) with hopefully a little touch of afternoon tea glamour. What do you think? Would love to know and see how you've dressed your lulu pieces :)

wearing | white cat & mouse tee (Lulu Guinness x Uniqlo), red pencil skirt (Sting), gold beaded black cardigan, red leather bag, tutu trench coat (Topshop), red Puma Match trainers

photos (above) taken by the lovely Emilia

The lovely and always well dressed Emilia and I decided to check out an "alternative" all american afternoon tea at BRGR.CO - think of your traditional english afternoon tea and swap finger sandwiches for mini burgers and fries, cakes for mini milkshake / cheesecake / brownie / doughnut and tea for bourbon ice tea and prosseco. We didn't really know what it would be like, the restaurant seemed relatively new and we both like to take afternoon tea quite seriously so this had the potential of being quite gimmicky. The food itself was good, it was a fun way to have afternoon tea and overall good value for money. Though I probably wouldn't have it again (think once is good but will go back for a proper full sized burger!), I would recommend if you want to try something a little different for a catch up with friends.

Emilia wears | white lace top & jacket (Warehouse), black jeggings (Gok for Sainsbury's), pastel print scarf (H&M) and grey court shoes (Nine West)

off-duty foodie

Another weekend, another giggle filled day, another off-duty outfit. Outside of work, I am most comfortable in jeans, a nice top and (hopefully fresh) kicks. Lucky for me, in a recent tidying frenzy I came across a beaut pair - I believe purchased way back when I had just started University - and thought I would take them for a nice little stroll along the Thames with the lovely Janny. They look to be inspired by boxing shoes (though I don't really trust my knowledge) and made me feel sufficiently springy whilst browsing food stalls and snacking on delicious hog roasts, jamon and olives at the Streets of Spain (a one-off food fest sponsored by Campo Viejo wines) and the Real Food Fest (a regular embankment attraction). To top the look off, I added a new bit of bling from H&M which I'm already highly attached to. All in all, another fantastic day in the sun, having fun, with some hog in a bun! (I really need to not do that...)

wearing | black Jamie skinnies, tutu trench coat, black mini twistlock holdall (Topshop), skull detailed t-shirt (a present), arrow necklace (H&M, a bargain £8!) & boxer-style hightops (Adidas)
