keeping festive warm

Let's be fair, it's not actually that cold outside but that doesn't mean we should't pull out our favourite accessory of the season: the mighty christmas jumper. Last week, my team had a Christmas Jumper Day at work and above is a small (but great) sample of what appeared on the day.

However, there was one re-occuring topic - how hard it was to find a christmas jumper this year! Mine (the penguin) was found in Camden Market by lovely Jan (sporting her reindeer look) after a good few days of us searching London's high street. Though it was worth the search in the end, I thought I would flag some jumpers I've spotted online (and love) if you're still looking for a novelty gem.

Party Polar Bear this jumper does all the talking; I would pair with black jeans and red heels

The Wolf not a one-off piece, this is a statement all year jumper that I absolutely adore and if you are also a fan of Flight Of The Conchords, this is 100% Brett jumper which makes me love it even more!

Fluo Reindeers who said red was the only colour for Christmas time, shine bright with this beauty

Santa's Kitten just. cute. (and a massive bargain!)

horsing around

The month of december means christmas dinners, christmas parties and christmas dresses; and the last week saw all three! This year's office party was held at Cafe de Paris in central London and I thought I would finally get into the christmas mood through sporting a sparkly dress and dotty christmas nails. It still feels a little surreal that it's less than two weeks away but the recent purchase of a christmas tree and the hunt for christmas jumpers have started to make it a little more real for me. So, starting to get excited now =)

Whilst hunting for christmas presents, I couldn't resist this amazing black leather clutch covered in gold horses with its own pony tassels from ASOS - it is really soft, fun and able to hold so much more than I expected (bonus). Additional bonus that it was on sale! Have no doubt that I'll be wearing this one a lot this party season. Yey.

chelsea-boulle style

Speaking of prints: meet Francis Boulle of TV series Made In Chelsea. Expressions-abundant skate-boarding entrepreneur extraordinaire and one of my firm favourites. Based on last night's show, he clearly doesn't need to accessorize with beauties like this in his wardrobe!

alternatives for fashionistas on a budget
featuring Sass & Bide

I spotted these Sass & Bide beauties recently in Stylist magazine's daily emails Emerald Street and since then have been on the look-out for high-street alternatives which may not be as painful on the purse strings. Heading North in particular is a limited edition piece by Sass & Bide, handmade in Kenya as part of the United Nations Ethical Fashion program; I always think it's great to see the promotion of ethical fashion.

I love these bags because the prints are distinct, the colours are bright but not too in-your-face and all in all they are bound to make any outfit standout. I also tend to be drawn to African inspired prints so I'm not surprised these caught my eye... Generally, I tend to colour coordinate what I'm wearing with the chosen bag or jewellery or shoes but in this case I would probably just team any of these with a LBD and let the bag do all the talking!

It is officially just over three weeks until Christmas (eeep) and I have started my yearly gift hunt. Not going to lie, I usually leave this until the very last minute because shopping in crowds stresses me out! However, this year I've decided to get organised and during my hunt have found a few things which might give you a few gift ideas for friends and family who are just as jewellery or nails obsessed... =)

26 November 2012

Amongst my birthday swag this year, a friend who knows about my nail-painting obsession kindly bought me my first set of nail art pens - in my favourite colour combo: black & gold. So, thought I'd give it a go this weekend.

It's been raining a little here in the UK (under-statement) so I was inspired to do a rain droplet theme as this week's nail pattern. Luckily, I also managed to bag a new nail varnish (for free!) as part of this month's Glamour give-away which lent itself nicely to a dark, gloomy background for my rainy nails...

Overall opinion on the NPW nail art pens - though they are fun, quality wasn't as good as I expected and easy of use wasn't great (I kept having to squeeze the tube while trying to draw, which when it came to using my left hand became a bit of a task...). To be fair, I may have been attempting a slightly too complicated design for my first try but hey, if you don't aim high you never know!

Despite all this rain, one thing which has entertained my attention this week is my mood ring from Regal Rose which has become a staple. I am now determined to bring back one of my favourite 70s fashion trends with this colour changing little gem. So far, I've had colours ranging from dark blue to emerald green to amber - looking forward to seeing what moods next week brings =D

birthday girl

Over the weekend, I celebrated another birthday with an amazing bunch of pals. Had a great time doing lots of eating (including this gigantic birthday sushi boat), sipping on cocktails and jumping around in my sparkly outfit. As it was a mini landmark birthday, I thought I would do something a little different this year so I decided to get a little creative with some buttons thanks to the John Lewis haberdashery department... Inspired by the Azealia Banks collaboration with ASOS (by this little outfit in particular) for the #BestNightEver... <3

Hope you enjoy the outfit / nails / arts and crafts / foodie post!

moustache or not to moustache

Moustache or not to moustache, that is the question.

If you can, I say moustache!

Thankfully, I can't grow a moustache, but to get in the spirit of being a Mo Sister, I snapped up the Mo ring above on a recent trip to Covent Garden. It's fun to wear and I have a feeling it will be a staple post-Movember. What do you think?

Movember goes from strength to strength each year. The event encourages men around the world (UK, US, Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong) to grow a moustache over the month of November to raise awareness for men's health and in particular prostate cancer - check out www.movember.com for news and photos for your region. Below are my favourites from the UK site, enjoy!

gothic princess

I've been noticing a lot of gothic / rock inspired accessories appearing in the last few months. Studding, skulls, spikes, leather are just a few which have made it into the fashion limelight. To be truthful, I love colour so have never really been drawn to the dark side... however, I have made a new discovery which I think has changed my views (for the better): Regal Rose

Regal Rose has a host of stand out, edgy designs. Their most recent collection Darkly Decadent has a gothic princess like vibe, dark yet feminine pieces and super bang up to trend. Although I love so many products across all of Rebecca & Louisa's collections, my top three overall favourites have to be: Peruvian Princess, Navajo Aztec & Vintage.

I have already invested in a few of their pieces, all of which I love and constantly wear - gold/silver hamsa rings, alexa gold chain & gold chain ring - but I can see myself investing in a few more pieces as they are definitely worth it. Birthday is coming up... I feel like a birthday crown may be needed ;)

Happy (window) shopping!

Darkly Decadent favourites: Baroque collar tips, Merle black lace crownSymbolic Silouhette evil eye ringGiselle bones necklace

Wish List: Dahlia silver bohemian wish box necklace, Rana eye mood ring, Gold above knuckle rings, Loa huge pyramid stone ring

monkey business

One of the many things I love about London is the fact that fashion is so accessible. There are lots of independent stores, vintage boutiques and markets which I can always lose myself in. However, every now and then, I love to step foot onto the high street, and a particular favourite destination is Topshop's flagship store in Oxford Circus.

On a recent visit to Topshop, I spent some time browsing their new jewellery collection. Nothing really caught my eye until I reached the bargain pods and came across these two little statement monkey rings.  These were the last remaining and cost me a total bargain of £5.50!

I'm in love with the gold and silver baby monkeys but am still getting used to the big silver monkey as it's pretty dominant on my finger. Either way, I thought they were a fun purchase and have made me smile throughout the increasingly wintery days =)

pumpkin party

This year was my second attempt at pumpkin carving as I got into the halloween mood. I wouldn't say it turned out spooky... but at least she has nice lashes?!

I'm also on the hunt for some fun nail varnish at the moment with my birthday coming up so naturally I combined the two - pumpkin colours and disco nails. Colour co-ordination taken to a new (and experimental) level.

Happy Halloween =)
